Stringam Law is seeking a polished and dependable Corporate and Commercial Legal Assistant to join our Grande Prairie office. This role is an excellent opportunity for a legal assistant who values precision, professionalism, and client service, and who is interested in supporting a busy solicitor practice with a focus on corporate governance, commercial transactions, and business law matters.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare, draft, revise, and format corporate and commercial documents, correspondence, resolutions, agreements, closing documents, reporting letters, and related materials with a high degree of accuracy.
• Support corporate matters, including incorporations, organizations, annual returns, minute book updates, corporate registry filings, and other routine corporate maintenance.
• Assist with commercial transactions, including preparing transaction documents, coordinating signature packages, organizing closing materials, and supporting post-closing follow-up.
• Conduct and coordinate basic due diligence and registry searches, including corporate registry, personal property registry, land titles, and other searches as required.
• Open, organize, maintain, and close physical and electronic client files while ensuring deadlines, key dates, and follow-up tasks are diarized and completed.
• Communicate professionally with clients, lawyers, corporate registry agents, financial institutions, accountants, opposing counsel, and other third parties.
• Prepare accounts, assist with billing, time entry, cheque requisitions, trust-related administration, and other file accounting tasks as required.
• Provide proactive administrative support to the corporate and commercial team and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the Grande Prairie office.
Qualifications:
• Legal Administrative Assistant diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution is considered an asset.
• A minimum of 2 years of legal assistant experience is preferred; experience in corporate, commercial, business, or solicitor practice matters would be a strong asset.
• Experience with corporate registry filings, minute books, annual returns, due diligence searches, or commercial transaction support is considered an asset.
• A professional, client-focused approach with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with lawyers, colleagues, business clients, and external service providers.
• Strong initiative and the ability to learn new concepts, terminology, procedures, and practice-management systems quickly.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a busy practice.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, including strong grammar, spelling, proofreading, and document formatting abilities.
• A high level of attention to detail, discretion, confidentiality, and commitment to producing quality work.
• Professional-level Microsoft Word skills and comfort working with electronic document management and practice-management systems.
Compensation & Working Hours:
Stringam Law offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, prescription drug coverage, life insurance, critical illness, long term disability, vacation, and sick time benefits. This is a regular full-time position, with standard working hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with an unpaid hour for lunch, subject to change from time to time.
