I was born and raised in Afghanistan, where I earned my law degree. Upon relocating to Canada, I enrolled at McGill University to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), receiving a scholarship for my studies. However, family responsibilities made me pause my education and move to the Peace Region in 2014 with my husband. After the birth of my second child, I reignited my academic ambitions, moving back to Ontario to attend Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, where I completed my LLM in Canadian Common Law.
After finishing the program, I returned to Alberta to complete the articling and CPLED (the Canadian Center for Legal Education), ultimately being called to the bar on July 31, 2023.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts, watching documentaries, and spending quality time with my family. I have a passion for cooking and baking and love to travel, especially to explore the countryside and small villages. I am an avid reader, with Dr. Gabor Maté as my favourite author, and I admire Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her tireless advocacy for women’s rights.
I am an early riser. I used to read extensively, but recently, I’ve started listening to audiobooks while I go about my chores around the house. I sincerely wish to see a world free from human suffering, where every person lives in harmony, embracing peace and compassion as the foundation of our shared humanity.
