Born and raised in Marystown, Newfoundland, Cliff settled in Grande Prairie after time spent living in Europe and Calgary. Cliff obtained his B.A. in Economics from Queen’s University in 1990, his Recreation Admin degree from the University of Alberta in 1995, and finally his J.D. from the U of A in 1999. Cliff has been a member of the Alberta Bar since 2000 and the British Columbia Bar since 2023. He was given his King’s Counsel designation in 2024.
Cliff’s current practice areas include banking, real estate, corporate/commercial, wills, estates and civil and commercial litigation. As a litigator, Cliff has extensive experience. He has had a particular focus over the last 23 years on insurance litigation including , personal injury, life and disability, home and commercial. Cliff has successfully appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta.
Cliff puts a high value on service and giving back to one’s community. He currently is the president elect 2024-2025 of Swan City Rotary Club, one of the largest and most active rotary clubs in Alberta, and serves on the Board of directors for the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce, the Alberta Civil Lawyers Association, and the Grande Prairie Downtown Association. In the past, Cliff has been active in coaching minor soccer, baseball and hockey on top of serving on several boards and volunteering with Grande Prairie Legal Guidance.
