Khatereh was born and raised in Afghanistan, where she earned her law degree. Upon relocating to Canada, Khatereh enrolled at McGill University to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), receiving a scholarship for my studies. However, family responsibilities made her pause her education and move to the Peace Region in 2014. After the birth of her second child, Khatereh reignited her academic ambitions, moving back to Ontario to attend Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, where she completed her LLM in Canadian Common Law.
After finishing the program, Khatereh returned to Alberta to complete articling and CPLED (the Canadian Center for Legal Education), ultimately being called to the bar on July 31, 2023.
Outside of her professional life, Khatereh enjoys listening to true crime podcasts, watching documentaries, and spending quality time with her family. She has a passion for cooking and baking and love to travel, especially to explore the countryside and small villages. She an avid reader, and counts Dr. Gabor Maté as her favourite author, and Khatereh admires Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her tireless advocacy for women’s rights.
Khatereh’s an early riser. She used to read extensively, but recently, she’s started listening to audiobooks while she goes about her chores around the house. She sincerely wishes to see a world free from human suffering, where every person lives in harmony, embracing peace and compassion as the foundation of our shared humanity.
